Municipal Court

The City of Remerton Municipal Court is one of over 400 courts in the Georgia Judicial System.  Our jurisdiction is limited to misdemeanor offenses of shoplifting of $500 or less; possession of marijuana (less than one ounce) and traffic offenses (including DUI).  Our court also adjudicates violations of local ordinances including zoning and parking offenses.

Municipal Court has the right and power to conduct non-jury trials, receive guilty pleas and impose sentence in the manner required by law.  Sentences handed down by this court are limited to 12 months confinement and a fine up to $1,000 per offense.  However, sentences for multiple charges may run consecutively to one another or consecutively to another case.  These sentences may also be served on probation.

Remerton Municipal Probation Department is responsible for supervising defendants that have been placed on probation by the Remerton Municipal Court and complying with the State of Georgia – County and Municipal Probation Advisory Council.

Jessica Freeman
Director / Chief Probation Officer

Jessica Freeman began her service with the Remerton Municipal Probation Department in 2005 at which time she was hired as the Director of the Remerton Municipal Probation Department and Chief Probation Officer.  Miss Freeman has 13+ years experience as a probation officer and has worked for several municipalities.

Miss Freeman has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Valdosta State University and Basic Probation Officer Training certificate.
